FOCUS programs began in the mid-1960s in a house on the clay cliffs of Aquinnah on Martha’s Vineyard. This place became a summer retreat for independent school students to come ponder life’s big questions and enjoy time with their peers. A lot has changed in the past fifty years. That house is now an island cultural center, and FOCUS serves over 600 middle and high school students at fifteen National programs throughout the year.
Both at our own property on Martha’s Vineyard and other resorts, retreat centers, and college campuses, students from independent schools along the east coast have the opportunity to join with others at FOCUS National programs.
